Time Ticket Information

Time Tickets & Priority Times

Undergraduate students’ registration time tickets will be set based on the minimum number of hours required to complete their degree program rather than the hours a student has earned. For example, students with 0-15 hours remaining to complete their degree will be given an earlier registration time ticket than students with 16-30 hours remaining to complete their degree.

Priority registration requires Provost Council approval. Groups approved for priority registration will receive registration time tickets that allow them to register with the group ahead of them unless they were approved for a specific time ticket.

The Registrar’s Office will notify enrolled students of their earliest registration time by email, approximately ten calendar days before Advising Day. Students can also view their registration time ticket by looking on their student profile under Registration Notices at the top right of the screen. All time tickets open at 9:00 p.m.

Groups receiving priority registration are students with an OAR-approved disability accommodation, Honors College students, military service members, and student athletes.

Time Ticket FAQs

The Alternate PIN* is required to access Registration and Schedule information in myĢƵ. It is required for a student's initial registration each semester. The Alt PIN is a randomly generated six-digit number that is given to students by their advisor to ensure that they have discussed their course scheduling. Should students be unable to contact their advisor, the department of their major will also have this number.

*Graduate and most distance program students don't require an Alt PIN.

In 2016, the Faculty Senate recommended that undergraduate registration times be based on the minimum number of hours a student needs to complete their degree and not the number of hours a student has earned. A formula to calculate the “minimum hours necessary for degree completion” (MHNDC) from the degree evaluation was approved. This is what determines students’ earliest registration times.

There are two calculations used.

1. Total program hours minus earned and in-progress hours accurately reflects hours needed to graduate for undeclared students starting their college careers.

2. The sum of the hours remaining in the Liberal Studies, major, minor(s), and concentration(s) of the blocks on the degree evaluation accurately reflects the hours needed to graduate for students who have declared a major.

ĢƵ half of the time these two calculations are the same number and half of the time they are different numbers. When they are different, the higher of the two numbers is used to represent a student's MHNDC.

The MHNDC is calculated independently for each program and the time ticket reflects the program that takes the most hours to complete. Students completing multiple majors need to balance their progress across all of their programs.
Minors, even optional minors, affect the MHNDC. Students completing a minor need to balance their progress in the minor with their progress in their major and concentration(s).
The degree evaluation does not assume that students will use the same course to meet two different requirements; therefore, double dipping courses will not affect registration times until courses are completed.
No, it does not display as a single number in Degree Works.
If time tickets have already been set, dropping a course will not result in a later registration time.
If the substitution lowers your MHNDC and qualifies you for an earlier registration time, you will be assigned an earlier time ticket.
If time tickets have already been set and the additional credit qualifies you for an earlier registration time, you will be assigned an earlier time ticket. If the transfer credit was applied to your record before time tickets were set, it was already considered in the MHNDC calculation.
Members of the Honors College, Active-Duty Military and Veterans, students registered with the Office of Accessibility Resources that qualify for early registration as an accommodation, and student athletes are the only groups that receive priority registration. For most students, priority registration allows them to register one group ahead of where the MHNDC places them.
