Ä¢¹½¶ÌÊÓƵ, Wider Circle partner to launch CATalyst Clinic in Clyde
On Oct. 7, Ä¢¹½¶ÌÊÓƵ's School of Nursing and Wider Circle celebrated the opening of the CATalyst Clinic, a nurse-managed community health clinic designed to improve access to care and connect residents with health resources in Haywood County.
“The launch of the CATalyst Clinic represents a significant step forward for Haywood County in improving access to primary and mental health care for the community,â€ said Jaclyn Bandell, associate professor in Ä¢¹½¶ÌÊÓƵ’s School of Nursing and medical director for the CATalyst Clinic. “Our clinic aims to meet individuals where they are, create a trusted healthcare team, and provide a low-barrier opportunity to engage in free care for acute, chronic and preventative health needs.â€
A grand opening and open house was held from noon to 2 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 7, at Wider Circle, located at Clyde Central United Methodist Church, 410 Charles St. in Clyde. Guests were able to tour the facility, meet clinic staff and learn more about the services available to the community.
The CATalyst Clinic is an interprofessional community clinic supported by Ä¢¹½¶ÌÊÓƵ's School of Nursing and staffed by faculty, supervised students and community partners. The clinic will provide free health services and support for individuals who may have limited access to regular health care.
The clinic's services include adult primary care, chronic disease monitoring and management, mental health screenings, health education, referral coordination, blood pressure and glucose checks, and assistance connecting patients with community resources.

As a bridge clinic, the CATalyst Clinic aims to provide patient-centered care while helping individuals establish long-term relationships with primary care providers and other support services. Care teams will assess health concerns, provide education and treatment within the clinic's scope, arrange follow-up care and assist with referrals.
“Our integrated and interdisciplinary model focuses on providing compassionate, whole-person care to ensure that every person has the opportunity to achieve better health, Bandell said. “We are deeply grateful to our partners, donors, and supporters whose generosity and shared commitment have helped make this vision a reality.
The clinic will operate Wednesdays from 3 to 6 p.m. at Wider Circle. Services are provided at no cost to populations served through the clinic's programs.
