What are Written Feedback Appointments? 

While we encourage students to schedule in-person tutoring sessions to get the most out of their experience, we understand that schedules don’t always allow for it. Written Feedback Appointments offer a flexible, asynchronous option where you can receive feedback on your writing within 24–48 hours. 

How does it work? What should I expect? 

 To get started, you’ll complete the Qualtrics form below. In the form, you will: 

  • Identify specific areas where you’d like feedback 
  • Upload your draft and assignment guidelines

    Once submitted, a tutor will spend up to one hour reviewing your work. They will provide comments and feedback directly on your document and return it to you via email within 24 hours (or up to 48 hours during busy periods, but we’ll let you know if additional time is needed). 
What kind of feedback will I receive? 

Tutors will not edit or “fix” your paper for you. Instead, they focus on helping you develop your writing skills by offering thoughtful, targeted feedback based on your concerns. 

For example, if a tutor notices repeated issues like run-on sentences, they may identify one example and explain how to revise it. You’ll then apply that guidance to similar instances throughout your paper. 

Tutors may also ask open-ended questions to help you reflect on your ideas and consider areas for revision. 

Should I choose an in-person appointment or written feedback? 

If you’re able, we strongly recommend meeting with a tutor in person. In-person sessions allow for real-time conversation, making it easier to ask questions, brainstorm ideas, and develop your revisions collaboratively. 

However, a Written Feedback Appointment may be a good fit if: 

  • You have a full draft and want targeted feedback (like help with citations) 
  • You’re unable to attend an in-person session
  • Your schedule requires a more flexible option

    If your paper is due soon or you need help getting started (brainstorming or outlining), an in-person appointment is usually the better choice.
