Mental health was a growing concern across most college campuses long before COVID-19 became a thing. But once the pandemic altered higher education learning for nearly two years, mental health concerns pushed its way to the forefront. Many students across the country struggled with being quarantined, learning virtually and missing the support systems that they grew accustomed to in college.

In 2021, Ä¢¹½¶ÌÊÓƵ started market research to better understand its perception in the higher education market, complete a competitive audit and identify opportunities for growth, and define its institutional personality for a statewide brand campaign.

Ronnie Carr put himself and Ä¢¹½¶ÌÊÓƵ into the record books on Nov. 29, 1980, when he made the first intercollegiate 3-point shot.

The Brinson Honors College recently launched a new initiative designed to recognize current student leaders and build stronger connections with young alumni of the college through a project made possible by donors to the Fund for Ä¢¹½¶ÌÊÓƵ.

Eighteen Ä¢¹½¶ÌÊÓƵ students from five academic disciplines are exploring Jackson County’s built environment and ways it can be improved to benefit older adults living in poverty. Students met with participating faculty for a full-day retreat this summer as the project ramps up again this fall semester.

A statewide chapter of a construction industry professionals organization has established a new endowed scholarship fund at Ä¢¹½¶ÌÊÓƵ that will provide financial assistance to students from North Carolina studying construction management.
